Join us on a dark winter's night for an evening of exploration inspired by the His Dark Materials exhibition and live poetry, music and artists. Create a mask to reveal your alter ego, playing with the materials provided or dabbling with more unusual techniques. 
Dress code is optional but all our guests are invited to fulfil their sartorial desires and dress as wildly and wonderfully as they like… or not. The bar will be open.

Make and bind your own book under the guidance of artist Adie Blundell. Using innovative techniques and inspired by the exhibition you will create an artwork using photographs you have taken, physically altered and bound into a book. An extraordinary day and rare chance to work with this artist and lecturer.
 Booking is essential, all materials are provided.  To book events please call 024 7629 4774 or ask at Herbert reception.  29th June 2013 - Workshop/Demo - Coventry and Warwickshire Society of Artists - Stoneleigh Adie will be holding a workshop on Saturday June 29th at Stoneleigh Village Hall, from 10.30am to 3.30 pm.The workshop entails the use of plaster for plaster casting.  The class will be exploring the world of plaster and also latex.  We will be experimenting with plaster from basic sand casting techniques through to latex and plaster relief work.  As part of the workshop, Adie will be showing methods of experimental bookbinding and book-making and will bring examples of experimental plaster casting.   20th July 2013 - Mad Hatter's Ball - The Herbert Art Gallery, Coventry8pm - 11pm £5 per ticket Join us on a journey into wonderland…a trip for curious people, in the fantastical world of the museum out of hours.With the guidance of artist Adie Blundell make a hat or mask to place yourself in the story using the range of unusual materials provided.There is no dress code but all our guests are invited to fulfil their sartorial desires and dress as wildly and wonderfully as they like, or not. This event is suitable for young people over the age of 16.A bar will be open and we'll swap the caucus race for dancing.Tickets can be purchased at Reception in the Herbert

Join us for another foray into the realm of creation.

Make use of a range of unusual materials to create your own masks supported by artist Adie Blundell and inspired by Gillian Wearing's photograph of a masked Lily Cole. Liberated behind your mask you can reveal your confessions and desires, whether they be real or another creation.

There is no dress code but all our guests are invited to fulfil their sartorial desires and dress and wildly and wonderfully as they like, or not.
